Men in Trees
“Men in Trees” is an American romantic comedy-drama TV series that first aired on ABC on September 12, 2006. The show stars Anne Heche as Marin Frist, a relationship coach. Set in the imaginary town of Elmo, Alaska, the series follows Marin’s comedic and romantic escapades. The storyline bears some resemblance to HBO’s “Sex and the City,” as both feature a female writer focused on romance. Marin’s experience as an outsider in a small Alaskan town is similar to the premise of CBS’s “Northern Exposure,” where New Yorkers find themselves in rural Alaska. The series was filmed in Squamish, British Columbia.
Five episodes from the first season, which hadn’t been broadcast on ABC, premiered in New Zealand on the TV2 network in June and July 2007. These episodes were later shown on ABC after the first episode of the second season, starting on October 19. “Men in Trees” was officially canceled on May 4, 2008, with its remaining episodes airing during the summer of 2008 as a final release.
