Defenders of the Earth

“Defenders of the Earth” is a 1986 American animated TV series that brings together iconic characters from three King Features Syndicate comic strips—Flash Gordon, The Phantom, and Mandrake the Magician—as they battle against Ming the Merciless in the year 2015. The series also features their children, Rick Gordon, Jedda Walker, Kshin, along with Mandrake’s assistant Lothar and his son L.J. Spanning 65 episodes, the show also inspired a brief comic book series by Star Comics, crafted by Gerry Conway, Ross Andru, and John Romita, Sr. The main theme music was composed by Rob Walsh and Tony Pastor, with lyrics by Stan Lee. The series was later rebroadcast on the Sci Fi Channel as part of the Sci Fi Cartoon Quest lineup.
