Memoir of a Snail

In 1970s Australia, Grace faces a life marked by hardship and sorrow. Following the death of their mother during childbirth, she and her twin brother, Gilbert, are brought up by their father, Percy, a former juggler who struggles with alcoholism and paraplegia. Although their lives are filled with affection, tragedy strikes again when Percy dies unexpectedly in his sleep. This leads to the siblings being forcibly split apart and placed in different households.
