Drunks
At the start of an evening Alcoholics Anonymous gathering, Jim appears particularly distressed. His sponsor urges him to share his thoughts that night, marking his first time speaking in seven months, so he does—and then promptly leaves the meeting. As Jim roams the night, seeking comfort in familiar places like bars and parks where he once purchased drugs, the meeting continues. We hear the stories of survivors and addicts—some, like Louis, who claim they accidentally stumbled in while looking for choir practice and don’t identify as alcoholics, and others, like Joseph, whose drinking nearly resulted in the death of his child—as they discuss their lives during the meeting.
